Senior Pastor Clarke & Cindy Lauffer
We planted Calvary Chapel Westmoreland back in March of 1996 with just a few families. We met in a YWCA for the first 12 years and were blessed to buy the current location in 2008. We were away from this area for about 15 years while we lived outside of Philadelphia. While there we were part of various Bible teaching fellowships but didn’t really find home till we began to go to Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia. While there we really began to grow and return back to our first love, Jesus. The simple laid back style and verses by verse teaching throughout the Bible got our spiritual attention. Also the Worship of God was so real and heart stirring that our hearts began to soften. We had started out when we first got married to be missionaries with New Tribes Mission reaching those who never once heard of Christ. After Bible College it became apparent that I wasn’t suited for that kind of life as I have no brains in my hands and missionaries to survive have to do many mechanical things on the mission field. We always had a sense of God’s call on our lives but lost the vision and got stuck in the world of self indulgence. Back in 1991 we relocated to Western Pa as we had some real trials as a family to walk through so we wanted to be near our relatives for support. When we got back home we visited many churches but couldn’t find one that we felt home in. So we drifted for 5 years spiritually till providentially the Lord sent us to Southern California on a business trip. We visited Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa and were totally blessed as we sat under Pastor Chuck Smith’s teaching. I knew that we needed something like this in Greensburg so I sensed the Lord’s hand leading us to plant a Calvary Chapel in Greensburg Pa. Our sponsoring church Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia and Pastor Joe Focht encouraged and prayed for us. So here we are today with a wonderful church Body of believers who love Christ and His word. God gave us this beautiful facility to use to spread to Westmoreland County the Good News of Salvation. I am a bi-vocational pastor and work as a sales rep for a Optical Wholesaler. My wife Cindy is administrative secretary for the church and also a full time grandmother to our 5 priceless grandchildren with another on the way. We know God desires to do a work in every city of the world. We see by His hand of blessing and grace that He has chosen the people of this local Calvary Chapel to impact the world for His glory and honor. We love serving the Lord together and are so encouraged seeing people from all walks of life follow Jesus as His disciples.
Assistant Pastor George & Tracy Perinis
We relocated from Leesburg Virginia to Greensburg Pa about 9 years ago. We were attending a Calvary Chapel there and they recommended Calvary Chapel Westmoreland as a potential church to be part of. My first visit was to the Pastor’s home where I met Clarke and his lovely wife Cindy. I had come to see if there were any needy family’s at Christmas in the church. As I sat in their home and sensed God’s presence and love I felt like I knew them all of my life and knew this was the church for us. What brought us back was the health of our little girl Olivia who has special needs and was also undergoing treatment for Leukemia. As we attended the church we saw the Body come to our rescue in prayer and anyway possible to help lighten our load. What transpired next was like a miracle to us, our little girl had a bone marrow transplant and has overcome by God’s hand of mercy the Leukemia. Today she is a healthy little girl and learning to excel in school. What we learned over these 7 years is that God is always faithful, and we can never repay Him for the many blessings we have received. We were called into the ministry in 2010 and have been serving the Lord and His body since then. We can’t fathom living for any other purpose but to love, honor and glorify Christ! George is an Attorney and is currently being prepared for a State Farm Appointment, Tracy is a contractor for Government contracts as well as a full time mother to beautiful Olivia. (there is much more to the miracle of Olivia’s life that will be shared in an upcoming book)
Assistant Pastor Ron and Debbie Suszek
Ron and Debbie have been part of Calvary Chapel of Westmoreland for over 4 years now. I visited the church after I saw a small ad in the local paper. I was looking for a simple laid back church that had as its focus the line upon line teaching of the Word of God. After I had come for many Wednesday services I knew this was where I wanted my family to Worship. We committed to coming as a family and have fallen in love with the people, the vision to teach the Word of God and the openness of the Body to only follow Christ and His word. We have 3 beautiful kids, Joshua, Matthew and Rachael who also are focused on following Jesus. I love serving the Lord in teaching the Men’s Breakfast bible fellowship, helping in the management of the church and serving the people who are seeking after God’s heart. Ron is a Sales Rep for a Pharmaceutical company and Debbie is a full time mother.
Steve & Brenda Pace, Leadership Team
We have been part of Calvary Chapel Westmoreland for over 5 years now and love the simple laid back style of ministry here. We have a heart for the teens and kids ministries and recruit families that have a heart to serve in this ministry. I also love teaching God’s word on Wednesday evenings and do that on a rotating schedule with six other men who are being trained for ministry. Steve is one of the men who back up our pastor when he is unable to teach as Steve has experience teaching through the Bible. We have two fine sons, Sean and Nathan who also help in the ministries of the church. I also serve on the Worship team and love singing Praise to our God. Steve is a District Manager for a Home Health Care company and Brenda is a full time mom to her kids as well as serving family’s in the Body who need help. We look forward to all God has planned at Calvary Chapel for all of our lives and ministries.
Rick & Claire Teagarden, Leadership Team
We remember our first visit to Calvary Chapel, I had about given up on church but was willing to try this church out that Claire kept telling me about. I was amazed over the simplicity of the Worship and the depth of God’s word being preached line upon line. We were drawn by the love of God and the power of the Holy Spirit and decided rather quickly that this would be our new church home, that was well over 11 years ago. The church needed a bass player which I was holding back on until the Lord moved in my heart and provided an instrument for me to play. Short story I became part of the Worship team. In a few years God opened the door for me to assume the Worship Leader position which I have been joyfully serving in for the last 8 years now. The team has grown with excellent musicians and voices that love and praise our Lord. As the church began to grow with women hungry for the word the Pastor asked, Claire to assume the Women’s ministry leader role. We have seen the Lord grow the depth of discipleship in all of our lives. We are so thankful that the Lord has led us to this place of service and ministry, we love what we are called to and love the Calvary Chapel family.
John & Anna Morris, Leadership Team
We have been at Calvary Chapel Westmoreland almost since the beginning. We were drawn by the simple approach to ministry, just simply teaching God’s word simply. We weathered the storms of church planting standing beside Clarke and Cindy in the early years of the church plant. We have seen God’s hand work in our lives as well as the Body as we have come to realize that only God can start and grow a church, we labor in vain that try to build it. We love the focus on Missions where a large % of our budget is allocated to get the Gospel out here and around the world. Our family has taken missions trips to Peru so we see the need of Christ in the poorest places on earth. I teach the Sunday morning Men’s Bible Study which is an interactive time to learn to apply God’s word in everyday life. Anna is the Financial Secretary of Calvary Chapel and as an accountant by life experience understands the importance of Godly stewardship and accountability. We enjoy serving the Lord and also seeing our children serving actively at Calvary Chapel Westmoreland.
Gary & Kathy Pyrdeck, Intercessory Prayer
We came to Calvary Chapel Westmoreland via a transplant form Southern California Calvary Chapel Chino Hills. We took retirement early to come back to help serve Christ in this church plant. We have been involved in the Intercessory Prayer Ministry in California and began to be led to pray for this church years before we moved here. Working with the Pastor by phone I began to have a burden to really intercede for Westmoreland County and the souls that need Christ. We recently moved here in 2011 and hit the ground running, beginning to work with others in establishing times at Calvary to specifically pray for repentance and humility to capture the hearts of all of us. We seek the Lord for laborers to be sent to help us reach the city with the Gospel. The times we have established for group intercessory prayer are Wednesdays from 6-7 pm prior to the Bible study and Sundays from 9:30 to 10:30 am prior to the Sunday sermon. We believe without a doubt that absolutely nothing happens in the Kingdom of God or the church apart from prayer. We are commanded to pray without ceasing, pray about all things, to let our requests be made know unto God. This is the fundamental and primary objective of all we are about in this church, we don’t move without praying for God’s will and leading. We are excited about this season in our life and look forward to all the Lord will do as we submit and humble ourselves before Him.
Louis & Terri Harrell, Evangelism
We are the newest of the team at Calvary Chapel as we were invited to come and see what God was doing by one of the the Assistant Pastor’s Ron Suszek. We had come out of some of the more emotional branches of the Body of Christ and were actually encouraged that things were very laid back and calm. In the beginning we were trying to figure out what made this place different. We found that it is true heart felt worship to God, the Word of God preached as the only truth, all 66 books of the Bible line upon line, the heart for Missions and the humble and contrite heart of the people. I was invited to the Pastor’s Conference with 15 other men from the church and saw that what we were experiencing in Greensburg was being taught around the world. While there my heart was convicted about doing street ministry in Greensburg. The pastor had been slowly encouraging me to take the lead in this venture. When we got back I made a commitment to be faithful each Saturday as we are able to go out and find the lost that they might come to know that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God and be saved. We see the fields as white unto harvest and are trusting that the Lord will raise up ten teams of two to cover this city with the Gospel of God’s Grace as it is found in Jesus Christ.
Dave & Jeanine Vannucci, Facilities Management
We came to Calvary Chapel by the leading of the Lord as He was working in the lives of some of our friends. We were very hungry for repentance and humility in our own lives and desired only the Word of God. We visited and almost immediately felt that we had come home. I have allot of background in construction and saw that there was a void in the church as to somebody being able to keep the building in good shape as a testimony to the Lord and a blessing to the people. We accepted the ministry of Facilities Management . So we jumped in helping wherever we could. I also began to assist in the sound booth. Jeanine is a true prayer intercessor so she has got involved in the prayer ministry as well as being a voice of exhortation to the Body about issues impacting our freedoms as Christians in America. We love what God is doing In Calvary Chapel and are praying that we might be a light in the city for Christ.
