As James continues his practical teaching in Chapter 5, he now turns to the judgment of rich oppressors. This is not an indictment on the wealthy in general, but James warns the unsaved rich who have defrauded, condemned, and even murdered poor believers to live selfishly in pleasure and in luxury. He warns them that judgment is coming. When we use our resources to be a blessing and a help to others as well as for our enjoyment, God is pleased. We are to trust in Him and not in uncertain riches.
