Revelation 2:8-11 – The Church at Smyrna

The church at Smyrna was already going through intense persecution at the time this letter was written. Jesus is telling the church to expect further persecution. Nonetheless, He encourages the believers not to fear what they are about to suffer and to be faithful unto death. This is a strong exhortation to the church today that, in the midst of trials, affliction, suffering, and turmoil, we remain faithful to our Lord. Great is our reward in heaven.
