1 Corinthians 8 - Christian Liberty

This chapter is about what a Christian does regarding eating meat offered to idols. Since this isn’t an issue today, it can be related to how we handle our liberty as Christians around people who have weaker consciences. We could relate cultural issues of what we participate in as Christians, such as movies, drinking, gambling, dancing, materialism, etc. The Bible isn’t specific on some things we face as believers; however, the Holy Spirit will check our conscience as to what isn’t good to be involved in. This can be different for Christians due to maturity and also things that actually caused trouble in our lives. New believers look many times at how mature Christians live their lives. We never want to confuse or stumble anybody with our way of living. If it’s a possible conflict that can trip someone up, we’re wise to avoid that area in our lives when they are around. May we walk in love and consider others first to prevent stumbling someone unnecessarily.
