We begin today the book of 1st Timothy, where the Apostle Paul begins to give Timothy direction regarding false doctrine. Back in Ephesus, Timothy was charged with dealing with and correcting the problems that were occurring in the church. The responsibility of the pastors and elders of a local church built upon Christ and the Apostles is to teach no other doctrine than which they received. As things go with false teachers infiltrating a church, so goes the congregation if the correction and discipline isn’t immediate. Paul gives insight from the Lord how to protect the church from anything that is contrary to sound doctrine.
